I felt powerful after writing a difficult scene last week and I used that power to work on a shawl that’s languished in my WIP’s. I’m binding off today and I feel like a champ!
Loved your article about Waikiki! My husband and I will be there in September for his daughter’s wedding. My first visit to Waikiki was in 1966, when my family and I spent three months living there while awaiting permanent military housing in Pearl City. I’ve been back a few times since then, so I know how much it’s changed (sadly, not for the better). Will definitely use your article as a guide for our September trip!
Yes, your writing does resonate deeply with so many people. I found a few books of yours I had not read yet, I just read and enjoyed Places to Stay the Night, from 1993. Hawaii, Ireland, Scotland, and Italy all sound like wonderful places to visit, someday.... Lastly, I sure enjoyed reading your essay Memory House! This sparked so many of my own childhood memories. As Wolfe tells us, You Can't Go Home Again, but we can surely hold those memories close to our hearts.
J'adore Waikiki! Nothing like a few weeks at the Hilton Hawaiian Village to restore one's chill. But now for the really important stuff. If you're looking for the most perfect leggings these numbers from Target are $9 and they're perfect. I own a dozen pair, wear them constantly and they work for everything. Dress up, dress down, sleep in them. They launder beautifully, don't fade, don't bag. And did I mention $9? https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-2pk-super-soft-leggings-a-new-day-8482-black-l/-/A-89631262?preselect=89631262
I just read your Modern Love Piece.
OH MY GOD
So much to love here, Ann!

1966! So different then!

I’m a Royal Hawaiian fan! The pink!
Will have to check out these leggings. Thanks for the tip!
RH is fabulous! I had a deal with Hilton's but always wandered over there! Old school!
Gertrude looks just like my sister-in-law's old tortie. Love the Zara skirt and the Quince sweater. Perfect for this blustery winter weather.
What a marvelously happy post! And I loved the Fanelli sign in the background. Tried and true that place.
One of my favorite NYC institutions!
Love the beautiful cats!
